Posted By SteveD-M Davey007 Is there some more detail? In principle they can as the dangerous goods contained within the equipment is part of the system they are exempt.
However there are issues with disposal...

Posted By Davey007 Hi Steve
Thanks for the response.
Disposal is not an issue for us as we have a sub contract waste disposal contractor who remove and disposes of these items for us as and when they occur (possibly 2 units of each every 3 months or so). Contactor calls when we request, so could arrange immediate collection from our depot if required.
Do we need to be registered as a transfer station?
Is there any further info required if so please advise what.
Many Thanks

Posted By SteveD-M Yes and if you are not already registered as a waste broker you will need that too. EA website for limits etc. http://www.environment-a...cs/permitting/35252.aspxJust a further note on the fridges you must ensure that the refrigerant cannot leak out during transit.

Posted By MP Refrigerators (new or scrap) are not dangerous goods under the terms of ADR.
They have no UN number.

Posted By Carl Farrell Refrigerators are covered in ADR but their proper shipping name is refrigerating machines and can be either UN2857 or UN3358. However there are special provisions for both these UN numbers which state that they are not subject to ADR when the contents of them are less than 12 kgs of gas either flammable for UN3358 or non flammable for UN2857. Special provisions can be found in ADR volume II section 3.3 the SP that apply are 119 and 291. Hope this helps
