I am enquiring as to the packaging and containerising of batteries for transportation by shipping container. The batteries in question are to be removed from a electrical substation in a decommissioned chemical plant

I have checked up on ADR/CDG for bulk carriage but the requirements are not very informative.

Is there anybody that has been involved in transportation of batteries that can provide me with some info on this matter.

Thanking you

Paul

Assuming that you're shipping process involves travel within the UK/EU; may I suggest that you find a good DGSA to advise you before you do anything involving transport of the batteries.

Some more information on the make-up of the batteries would help. Are they lead-acid, NiCad, NiMH? Are you "shipping" by road, rail sea, air?

Different shipping restrictions will apply.
