Posted By shaun cooper I am a member of the Institute of Demolition Engineers and as part of our CPD score points would need to put forward a Technical Paper for appraisal by the council of members. Can anyone think of a topic that would strike a great deal of interest in the H&S professionals persona of the demolition industry?

Posted By FAH Hi Shaun Perhaps you might like to consider the following as possible topics:- Principal hazards of demolition & good practice management; or Integration of demolition with other site activity; or Preventing collapse of unsupported structures; or Stability of structures whilst stripping out services; or Identification & safeguarding of pre-existing services affected by demolition; or Relationship of demolition with CDM - esp Planning Coordinator. Frank Hallett.

Posted By Richard Altoft I have in the past written articles on explosive demolition, asbestos removal and demolition of such structures as power stations. If you wanted a direct link to safety then building on what Frank has just suggested how about compliance with Reg 29 of CDM or relationship of Reg 29 demolition plan with CDM requirements for PCI and CPP. Less obvious would be how do you "design" a demolition and how would CDM reg 11 be satisfied in a demolition design. Best of luck - share it with us when completed please R
