Morning all

time to pick your brains, its a bit technical.

I have been asked to look into the rules relating to DDA requirements in toilets (namely drop down bars) and how they affect the health and safety of the users. specifically, what are the recommendations/rules regarding the force/weight/strength that a bar should be able to take before it begins to deflect. Some bars on a recent projects don't appear to have much strength and we are concerned that they may give a false sense of security/stability to the users.

There are BS standards and design codes for thiese items and if you open a dialogue with the suppliers/designers/manufacturers involved you will get all the advice you need.

As an aside there is a council working party set up to examine disability and diversity issues as they relate to prectitioners and the Institution and all queries along this line can be directed to me as the chair of the working party.
