Posted By louise boyd Ok I passed my Nebosh Certificate last year and have an interview tommorow afternoon for a junior health and safety role. The requirements of the job are involve working ith the following standards ISO 9001 ISO 14001 OHSAS 18001 I have never even heard of these before they were covered in my NEBOSH course. Any help would be very much appreciated otherwise in going to look very stupid at this interview. Thanks in Advance

Posted By Pete48 Louise, they have chosen to interview you from your application and c.v. Why would you look stupid based on that? Not knowing stuff doesn't mean you are stupid, it just means you don't know it. You suggest that you have learnt the theory so why not just go in and be honest in your responses? Better chance that way of being successful. You say it is a junior position so you might think about trying the " I have studied the theory and now I want to learn the practice" approach.
Good luck and go in convinced that you are far from stupid, you have a NGC. After all you are the only one worried about looking stupid! Your interviewers won't care either way. If you are the best fit to their expectation and criteria you will get the job.

Posted By doug bell Louise,
As the previous post says - You have the NGC, you are no fool. These qualifications are earned through blood, sweat and often tears.
They want to meet you, give them your best shot and good luck.

Posted By Warren Fothergill BS EN ISO 9001:2008 is a Quality Management System and is the basis of which a company, with relevant certification to that standard, conduct their business. It doesn't mean to say that they provide a quality product or service, it just states the way they do things, they correct things, commit to training and competency have document control on procedures, drive improvement and review systems accordingly to reduce errors. There is a cost to this, so generally there is a degree of 'reasonableness'.
BS EN ISO 14001:2004 is an Environmental Management System and is once again a statement of intent on how the company will manage their impacts on the environment. Here the system is much smaller and is supported by a register of applicable legislation, an impacts and aspects register (the impacts of all the 'ins' and 'outs' of the business including product/service and wastes). You need to show you have aims and objectives and that you can positively work towards them under the SMART system.
OHSAS18001 is a Health & Safety Management System, which I do not use (I use HSG65) which is based on the management of occupational health and safety and how you 'risk assess' implement, monitor, record, review etc.
They cover the 3 disciplines of Quality, Environment & Safety Management, and is an all encompassing role. Good systems will mean they are robust, meet the needs of the business and comply with regulatory and statutory requirements.
Hope it helps/??

Posted By Alan Hoskins Could be too late now, Louise, but no one has mentioned yet that the three management stadards are all based on the principle of continuous improvement.
Plan - Do - Check - Act
Remember that if nothing else...
Alan
Good luck!
