Posted By Steve Howells All, Doesd anyone have any shareable material surrounding risk/loss/cost minimisation i.e. saving water, prevent theft, saving energy. Times are hard and the business is now exploring all options.

Posted By garyh A couple of easy wins:- Break down where the energy / costs are being spent. (Eg another post mentioned paper, good idea but check first which are the big issues, then tackle them - paper may or may not be significant). Ask the workers eg by work group, where money / energy / resources are being wasted, and how saving and efficiency could be improved. You can be astonished by what they come up with.

Posted By Richard Altoft A client of mine knocked off all outside lighting in his steel and aluminium fabrication business and across its yards and premises out of hours. Electricity bill halved and thefts actually stopped altogether. They also outsourced as much as they could incl H&S services, training, etc (to us) and cleaning, spray painting etc to ex employees who they helped to start their own businesses. R

Posted By joolz040770 We've managed to save lots of money on energy consumption and paper usage by making staff aware of environmental issues, showing them consumption figures (and how they are dropping) and starting our own Environmental Champions Group (which I chair). It works really well but only if a pragmatic approach is taken to issues. Carbon Trust site is really good.
