Posted By LBW Are there any age restrictions for persons working on woodworking machines such as bench saws and planers. We have a 17 year old who has been here for nearly 2 years, he has been assessed and deemed competent due to the training, experience and knowledge he has obtained. However is there any grey areas I need to be aware of? Thanks

Posted By Sally If he has been trained an assessed as competent and you feel he has the maturity then there isn't really a grey area. You have complied with all the required criteria.

Posted By LBW Thanks Sally,
I took the decision and deemed him competent after consultation with his superviser well before I posted on here, but it was not until it was mentioned to me yesterday whilst attending a funeral that I decided to look into it!!!!
However compared to some of the employees working here the guy in question has more than enough 'sufficient maturity'.
