We have a steel storage facility which we store our petrol and oil in for some of our tools (chainsaws, leaf blowers etc.)
I went to visit the site last week and noticed that charcoal sacks and other materials are being stored in there. The reason they gave was due to lack of storage space for the other items.
I'm personally not happy with the idea of having charcoal and other potentially combustible items being stored in the unit with the chemicals but before I go in all hells blazing, could someone please confirm my suspicions or correct me if I'm wrong?

Often it is not a dangerous substance which is the first material ignited in a fire. In many
cases it is other combustible materials which act as the initial source.
Get hold of a copy of HSG 71 Chemical Warehousing - The storage of packaged chemicals.
Which will also give you an idea about segregation.
