Hi everyone,
I've been given the task to get H&S information on the safe use of a mast climber, required training, if madatory use of a harness is required ect....
I would be grateful if you could help me with this.
Regards

Read BS 7981, the COP for mast-climbing work platforms. That's what it's there for.
If you don't want to buy a copy, you can read it for free via your local library.

Is IPAF Traning a mandatory requirement to use a mast climber?

Depends who you ask.
Legally, IPAF is just like any other trade body (IOSH, PASMA, etc.) and there's no law to force you to do their training. WAHR and BS7981 require "competence"; how you get that is entirely up to you. IPAF delivers it, so do many other trainers who'll simply use the BS as their syllabus. You can even do in-house training if your company has the resources and expertise.
However your insurance underwriter may insist on a certain "brand" of certificate (though you can argue they're wrong to do so, it rarely helps). Ask them before wasting time doing something they refuse to accept.
