Posted By Alex.wilkes POPMA is the the principles for setting out a HSE management system as laid out in HSG65. PDCA is a guidance for such things as specific activities. Example Plan activity and precautionary measures required. This will involve the risk assessment. Do the activity with the precautions implemented. Check for compliance and whever the precautions are actually working. Act if these are not The two are completely different things. If you require more information please let me know.

Posted By Adrian Watson Arun, The PDCA and POPMA models are not different things; HSG 65 was 'developed' from the PDCA model and uses different words. HSG 65 adds organisation and auditing explicitly into the management model whilst the PDCA (Deeming) model implicitly incorporates these items by being hierarchical in nature and incorporates them at a higher level. Posted By naveen duggal Hi, It is interesting to know about PDCA & POPMA! Well, basically, by experience and knowledge, PDCA cycle is usually used in Engineering, production, Science with referance to Quality & Root cause analysis. It is a method in common to check the product or whether the output is taking place in accordance to a preset standard . Whereas POPMA is refered to Safety policy or Quality policy depending upon the nature of organization, where who is who, responsible to implement the Safety policy or quality policy. What is to be done incase of ...? What are the procedures & people responsible to do so and the arrangements are in place to carry out the set procedures or actions There can be many other factors to be considered and competent persons, trainned staff to handle such situations.
