Posted By Steven R Boulter I need to establish the maximum occupancy allowed for the whole of an office premises and also our large boardroom. Does anybody know how I go about finding this out? Is there a calculation I can do? Your help is greatly appreciated Steve

Posted By SNS Hi, from memory - not an ideal place to be, but a starter .... A little vague but is it not in the management of HSW regs? - don't have a copy to hand. Office space of around 11 cubic meters or thereabouts per person, only space up to 3m above floor level to count and not including furniture.

Posted By SNS correction to my last ..... Workplace Health Safety & Welfare (HS&W) Regs, Reg 10 - Room dimensions and space. "sufficient floor area, height and unoccupied space for the purpose of HS&W. 11 cu metres, but you need to read the detail and exclusions. The boardroom will be covered by basically the same Reg, but check the occupancy periods, and its unlikely to be cramped!! Rgds, S

Posted By Messy Shaw For Fire safety purposes, Approved Document B of the building regulations (appendix C - page 135) states an occupancy figure of: 6m2 per person for Office use 1m2 per person for meeting room, conference room etc Take your pick

Posted By Chas Alternatively you could refer to the Building Regs App Doc B. Table C1 suggests 6m2 per person in an office environment and Table 4 uses fire escape/exit numbers and widths to determine max occupancy. Hope this helps.
