Hi All,
I'm carrying out a risk assessment on the installation of drainage..
now i have already got a substantial assessment for the excavation side of things but i really do not want to repeat myself..
Do you think its OK to just add the additional hazards in the drainage assessment and on areas where it is already covered in the excavation assessment just write "see excavation RA reference: XXX"

Classic situation of analysing the hazard rather than the task.

A tentative yes, so long as your excavation R/A entirely complements the overarching task.
e.g. where the task involves people entering the excavation then the excavation part of the R/A must include controls to prevent collapse/ entrapment.
Note:I'm responding on the basis that the R/A is a management process, and not as a best means to communicate to the people on task.
