Posted By Philip McAleenan Golam,
train the users to carry out the daily visual inspection on their own harnesses.
Any harness and lanyard that has had stress applied through arresting a fall should not be re-used but instead returned to the manufacturer with as much details of the incident as you are able to provide. This will allow them to carry out tests to determine the effects on the harness and improve future product.
Contact me offline if you want to discuss this further,
regards Philip

Posted By B Smart Golam,
It is an idea to have you safety harnesses in a secure area where they need to be signed out. This way you can easily inspect and make a record without difficulty. It also means that you have control over who has the harnesses and ensure that they are handed back at the end of the shift.
Hope this helps

Posted By Bob Youel FBH's are PPE and as such should be managed and this includes checking the kit for damage etc
we have 1000's of staff with 10s of pieces of kit to each person and have no probs in managing all the kit that each person has noting that the one and only time your kit may be tested is the one and only time that it may fail and if you have no records of maintenance / user checking you are up the creek without a paddle
If your staff cannot check their kit themselves they should not be using it
We have a single sheet of paper which can last a month and more for each bit of kit and as its used its checked and the staff sign that it is fit for purpose - Thereafter the paper is scanned into the computer and used again and again with different coloured inks. Thus the process moves on [I have simplified what we do but that is the basic principal!]
