Hi everyone,
My client company requires me to use VDO Communicator FM 300 for controlling the vehciles, while our fleet provided with DAVIS 600 Driver Right Monitors. The contarct states that VDO system to be used unless other better system available.
Do anyone knows which of these two systems best for controlling the vehcile driving perfprmance?

I am intrigued by your query as we have a small fleet of 300 vans and we only use the ROSPA risk assessment profiler and a tracker system. Can you tell me how the monitor works ?

The FM300 has a direct link the vehicle engine manement system which includes either GPS or GPRS tracking. Which will provide 'real time' information on the vehicle and in turn the driver performance. This is key 'in my mind' for not only maintenance planning but also vehicle and driver performance management. It has also helped me significantly in vehicle collision investigation.
Not sure about the other I haven't heard of it. If it is based on the US Zata system it is more driver management than vehicle. Therefore will have less technical detail and more.
The use of the communicator is also a subject of driver distraction and the instructions for use need to be looked at every carefully.
If you want to drop me a line off post we can gt into the techy detail...

The DRM Davis 600 is a very good tool to control performance of driver. It is connected either directly to speedometer of to cardan shaft. It records the over speeding once you calibrated it to particular speed limit, harsh accelerations and decelerations. Also it shows lengths of the trips.
