Does anyone have experience of initiatives that could loosely be called engagement / behavioural / cultural ie workforce focused in a positive way on the importance of day to day actions and hazard awareness at both operative and supervisory level?

I'm not after a full blown discussion of the pros and cons of behavioural safety here, but some specific feedback on simple initiatives that have worked.

Funny you should ask that as this is a subject that we have been discussing this last week, some ideas we are trying are 'Safety Observations' cards (As opposed to "Near Miss" reports. with a free breakfast for reasonable observations & a draw each month of all who entered with a reward. Daily task briefings are carried out which gives operatives the opportunity to raise issues. Weekly Directors surgeries. Good practices are rewarded this soon spreads the message. Management engage in conversation with work force when there is an issue spotted on site rather than just handing out negative feedback. Always looking for more suggestions. League table for monthly/weekly inspections/audits between sites with the highest score/continuous improvement rewarded.Lots of carrots but also sticks/discipline.
