Thanks for the information. As you say a victory for common sense. Hooray!
For those who haven't used the webpage link, it takes you to a BBC article which reports that Dundee Council has done a U-turn over its recent ban on home-made cakes and scones at school fetes on "health and safety" grounds.
As I've suggested before on this forum, be suspicious about individuals or organisations who quote "health and safety" as grounds for banning things. In the case of the Dundee ban, the "health" reason was spurious, but goodness knows what the "safety" element was! Could it have been a fear that some people bake scones which are so hard that people risk the stability of their teeth by biting into them and/or could use them as missiles?!

Could be. However, the nursery where my daughter goes to will not allow any home baked food to be brought into the premises, (unless for pre-arranged dietary reasons for that individual child) in case any child with a food allergy eats a bit and has a reaction. That is where they may be coming from. Whether from fear of being sued or for genuine concerns for protection, it doesn't really bother me, as long as no one brings in their daddy's 'special' # cakes and feeds them to my little darling!
