Posted By Martin Taylor Having been told this week that there are plans to introdcue legislation to segregate food waste from industrial general waste I have been trying to find info on the web but with no luck Is there any truth in this suggestion and if so what are the details? Martin

Posted By David Wright You have probably tried this but have a look at the Environment agency web site which will have a link to netregs which gives good guidance on waste. food waste shouldn't really be going to landfill anyway especialy if it contains animal products.

Posted By Bob Youel more and more food wast is being segregated - talk to your local council as I would be surprised if they did not have plans to do something re such waste - so one way or another you may have to manage such waste in the future as you do others now and I agree that land fill is not for food waste nor for general construction waste - are you still putting plater board in your general construction waste?

Posted By Martin Taylor thanks for the responses so far as an industrial entity we do not use councils for collection and in my industrial experience I have not seen food waste streamed seperately other than respect to direct from a canteen e.g. waste from lunch boxes etc is not segregated. Specifically I am trying to find out if there is impending legislation to prevent food waste to landfills or legal pressures on landfill sites to refuse waste that contains food waste any mnore info or thoughts very welcome thanks Martin

Posted By Eliza Flutterby Hi Martin, It's not a legal requirement - well, not yet, anyway lol (But I think it is in Denmark, though I could be wrong?) My employers have just started a scheme similar to this... http://www.lowcarbonecon...nt/_low_carbon_news/6135 Maybe this is what you're thinking of? Regards, Eliza :-)

Posted By Haggis JM To the best of my knowledge it is not yet legal requirement, however councils and industrial waste management companies are under pressure to segregate and also to increase composting percentages.
