Hi all,
We have an amonia plant room within one of our facilities (middle east), we have emergency procedures in place but they need to reviewed and I believe improve them. I assume that amonia would fall under DSEAR? I am looking to either carry out the review in house or bring in an external company to do this. Am I correct in thinking that the following would be required
1. A review of the current emergency procedures
2. Carry out a risk assessment
3. Write an emergency procedure
4. Train staff on the emergency procedures
If any body can provide me with any further information regarding the required procedure it would be very much appreciated.

You could try
BS EN 378-1 to 3:2008
Specification for refrigerating systems and heat pumps. Safety and environmental requirements. Basic requirements, definitions, classification and selection criteria.
Interestingly "electrical" equipment does not have to be ATEX/CE marked to be used within the machinery compressor enclosure provided that a high reliability detection/shut off and ventilation system is provided. Of course any emergency equipment i.e. ventilation, emergency lighting and detection system will have to be suitable for use within a potentially explosive atmosphere.
