Hello,
Was wondering if anyone can tell me the basis of the Isoflurane WEL of 50 ppm?, what scientific evidence was used to set this level? How would I determine what the HSE used to set this level?

There are two places to look.
In EH40, 2005 there is a section that tells you how WELs were decided upon in principle (page 37 or thereabouts).
EH64, 2002 is the document that contains summaries of the scientific data on which those figures were based, for each of the substances listed (I believe).

Idle curiosity led me to Googgle MSDS for this product. The inconsistencies across the various 'data sheets' available for this Product are most alarming!
The EH 40 Table 1: "List of approved workplace
exposure limits" (as consolidated with amendments October 2007)and the previous issue in June 2007 DO NOT provide information as to how these WELs were established.

Apologies Flic, your reference to Page 37 of EH40 is of course valid.
GeoB, there are any number of papers etc.regarding the work of "ACTS" ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON TOXIC SUBSTANCES, the body who establish these WELs, avaialable via the www.
