Typical that I ask this question after the heatwave seems to have passed but the questions of wearing shorts in the workplace was raised last week.
I am looking to be able to sanction this practice in appropriate areas and am just thinking if there is a 'cut off' temperature used by companies to trigger the authorisation.
Comments please from companies where this policy is used

Undertake your risk assessment and that should give you your answer noting that heat is only 1 of the hazards to manage

It does raise the question as to if it is 'appropriate' to wear short in hot weather, why they cannot be worn when its cooler.

you can wear shorts as it poses no risk.
no you cannot as there is an additional risk associated with wearing shorts.
IE we melt metal high risk of burns. burn resistant overall required no shorts allowed ever.
we also have an office block some people never go on shop floor Sorts allowed when ever
