I posted a thread in the careers forum last week.
## RISK OF REDUNDANCY - EXPERIENCED HSE MANAGER SEEKING POSITION ##
http://www.iosh.co.uk/in...um=2&thread=45798&page=1
Only to come back on line this morning and find that this [reference removed] have left a post on lots of old threads bringing them all back to the first page and moving mine along with other new threads to the second, third pages etc.
I had a look at their site when I got one of their responses last week, however after what they have just done I certainly will not be using them.
NOTE TO [reference removed] - Many of us have put postings on the careers forum because we have or are at risk of losing our jobs, not a good position for anyone to be in, by your selfish acts you have just sabotaged our job search. Well done and thanks, would love to be able to return the favour some time if you are ever in the unfortunate situation that many of us now find ourselves......

Perhaps the Mods can look into what interest the company have on IOSH site as they seem to crop up with their comments deleted.
If this is so predominant maybe they can block access?

Lee - I did point this out to the individual responsible late on Saturday night while he was still posting. His response was that people on the carers forum would thank him for telling them about his site and he seened to completely miss my point, which was exactly the one you are making.
Mods - is it possible to actually DELETE all the posts made by ths poster rather than just hide them? As Lee has pointed out, the order of all posts on the first two or three pages of every one of the public forums has now been messed up because of this stupidity.

Heather - I certainly will not be thanking them for it.
Clearly this was just an advertisement ploy with a total disregard for individuals genuine career/employment concerns. I would imagine that the people responsible have been fotunate enough not to have been in a redundancy situation, worrying about how they are going to provide for their families in the future.
I may sound a bit over dramtic, however this is reality and peoples lives which is being interferrred with. Something that is often forgotten when writing in discussion forums and chat rooms (not unique to IOSH forums).
This [reference removed] is clearly advertising, I would expect the MODS to now take a close look at what they have done and if possible block their access to posting on this site.

Heather,
Credit where credit is due please.
It is actually members of the Web-team (i.e. paid IOSH staff) who are cleaning up the mess made.
They do a great job supporting the volunteer moderators and doing all those hidden under-the-bonnet jobs.

Thanks to everyone involved in clearing this mess up.
Hope the muppets who made the mess have been banned from the site.

This might be an opportunity to "test" the supposed special relationship IOSH has with SHP. How about SHP banning this company from the advertising pages??
Or does money speak too loudly??

Hats off to everyone involved in ridding the forums off the rubbish posted by this adolescent 13 year-old. I had a call earlier from a friend who left a post on his forum daring to tell him what a child he had been and that his pathetic attempt to disrupt the IOSH forums was utterly laughable. Needless to say he removed the thread on the basis he can't cope with anything that would dare tell him some home truths.
My god, talk about kids and throwing toys out of the pram! I'm no better either posting this. Anyone who knows me will appreciate that I won't even bother. Every now and again a complete and utter Richard head thinks he knows it all and ..... well, you know what I mean I guess.
Pal! You know diddly flamin squat!!!!!

With a total of only two messages posted in the last 24 hours on the other site, I can understand why there has been so much effort into trying to advertise it here.
Ironically one their unanswered messages were then posted here today with an almost immediate reply.

I use that site as a networking opportunity. I continue to use this one for sensible and authoritive H&S matters. Both have their place in cyberspace for me! Both have children posters.

your comment on the site only having a few posts in 24hrs isn't really reflective. The site offers a lot more ways to communicate than just the forums. its a total different set up from this one.
I have had my posts answered in the past by people contacting me via the sites brilliant instant message feature or through comments on my profile or message to my inbox.
Its funny how most of the people leaving negative comments can also be found on the [reference removed] site...

Arrn: You seem to be repeating yourself.
On the earlier HSE thread:
Posted by Arran Linton - Smith on Tuesday, 14 July 2009 at 12:50. From my observations I notice that [reference removed] has not even had one message or job vacancy posted on their site today. Res ipsa loquitur!
You seem to really have it in for them, so you won't mind if I repeat my comment to you? That's a rhetorical question by the way, if you give then you should expect to get it back.
Posted by GeoffB4 on Tuesday, 14 July 2009 at 14:23. Tart comment Arran. I could ask 'How's the consultancy going? ;-)

I've had a look at it and joined.
It's different to this site, total different animal so therefore I will keep an open mind and make the best of both.
There you go, "having your cake and eating it"
So far so good, I've had people contact me to build networks and share ideas.

in the considerable history of this forums penchant for the banal this is arguably the pinnacle of waste of time postings! are members of IOSH seriously arguing over which or what H&S related sites they prefer! let this ridiculous topic die a death, make your own choices and get on with it!

Lee,
No; the issue you have described is not allowed, it is in fact a breach of AUG 3 in as much as it is a promotional campaign.
As the thread has somewhat wandered off topic, I am now taking the opportunity to lock the thread using AUG 1.
Regards
Jonathan
