Posted By Mark Eden Could anybody tell me if there are any requirements to put window opening restricters in to rented property - As a landlord are you required to fit child proof locks to windows. If this a requirement could you point me in the direction of the legislation Many Thanks in Advance

Posted By martinw Closest I can get to is BS 8213-1:2004 and code of practice which gives some guidance regarding restrictors. Could refer to approved document K if relevant(K 4.1) for the 100mm opening limit and for opened windows not causing an obstruction(2m); also BS 6375 part 2 for the operation and strength characteristics of the window. Bear in mind requirements under approved doc M though, for disabled access and means of escape.
