Posted By Watto Can anyone let me know how a friend should proceed, he has recently been assessed for driving an excavator over 10 tonne, he passed the assessment and was told his card would come when all the paperwork was complete, he has paid for the assessor to come to site and the paperwork to be completed and the total was nearly £500, he then waited for approximately 2 months and after numerous phone calls to the company involved he was told the assessor has had a heart attack and finished work and therefor there is nothing the company can do, this is now almost 4 months after the assessment, he is also unaware if the assessor was a consultant or direct but this does seem a little unfair, does anyone have any previous experience of this kind or any suggestions how he should proceed.

Posted By Dave Wilson If this was done through construction skills he will have an enrolment number, speak to them and see what can be done, or speak to the assessors company, if no joy contact CSkills again and they may intervene for you

Posted By Steve Race since August1st 2008 all CPCS testing has to be done at a registered CPCS test centre. if the assessor has performed the assessment on site it does not look likely that it is a CPCS assessment. your friend would have to sit the Health and safety test. once a test has been booked a registration number will be issued. then sit a technical theory & practical test, if successful on these then an application form for a CPCS card will be completed. once a red trained card is issued, you have two years to achieve a NVQ, which will enable you to upgrade to a blue competence card.
