Exactly what information should be put on the new h & s law poster?

Posted By Booney In implementing the new poster, We are getting conflicting info as to what should actually be written in the two boxes. The HSE said they were offering no guidance and an LA said it should be them (the LA) and the local EMAS! In recognising a union, we feel they should be on there but, what are you putting on your posters please?

Posted By William O'Donnell Taken from the abstract on the HSE Books page on the new H&S Law Poster: "The law has been changed — for the new poster you don’t have to add contact details of your enforcing authority and HSE’s Employment Medical Advisory Service. You can add details of any employee safety representatives or other health and safety contacts, but this is not compulsory"
We have put the contact details for the Trade Union Safety Rep, and myself as the H&S Advisor on our poster.

Posted By Alan Hoskins As Willaim has done - TU appointed Safety Representatives' and the Health & Safety Officer's contact details.
One of the reasons for the update was to remove the need to add the enforcer and EMAS details as the poster includes contact information for the HSE Incident Centre.
Not sure about organisations where the LA is the enforcer though...

Posted By Martin J Morley Stick with the old system, since it works for all sorts of firms!
We are about to stick labels over the contact details for the HSE Incident Centre, since we have our own reporting procedures.
How can we investigate and analyze reportable injuries if they have been reported directly?

Posted By Coshh Assessor But - why not just remind everyone of the company's incident reporting procedure, pointing out whose job it is to decide which are the RIDDORs and report them?

Posted By Alan Hoskins But Martin, surely the idea of the poster is to inform employees that they have the right to report issues directly to HSE, even if you do have your own reporting system...
We aren't talking RIDDOR here.

Posted By Ron Hunter The original Health and Safety Information for Employees Regulations 1989 and 2009 amendment make clear what must be included - all available at OPSI website. As others have stated, the statutory info/ requirements are now printed on the new poster (although we are some way from the new poster being mandatory!). Safety Rep. info is optional. I would caution against obscuring info with your own labels though, this would IMHO constitute interference with the "prescribed form" of the poster.
