Cycling... the best approach.
Sharing cars still not very ec-friendly...
Public transport not much effective due to lack of resources etc

Anything where employees can see a definite financial incentive for themselves as well as an environemtnal benefit.

I believe some incentive schemes differ area to area, the one in our area that we use as an employer is the Bike to Work Scheme. It offers discounted rates for bikes and equipment which you can pay direct from salary thus giving tax savings. http://www.edinburghbicy...rk%2Ehtm&f%5FCardinal=11

Hi
The NHS trust where my friend works has such a scheme. They have really limited parking facilities for staff, ond those who apply for permits are given preference if they car share - those who share three times a week get preference over those who share once etc.
It is based on trust and requires confirmation but it seems to be working.
Hope this idea helps

Forgot to add Sustrans original remit was to put in place a corridor for cycling / walking. Whilst leaving enough of the original trackbed in place should there be a call for replacement of railway inferstructure. I have heard on the grapevine that not long back they've ripped up a whole trackbed thus making it too costly to reinstate a trackbed. In another instance they are using blocking tactics to prevent a heritage railway run a local community service. As a six coach train can carry approx 300 people in one movement their actions are not very eco-friendly.
Rant over.
