Posted By Phil Rose Mikey - following on from many years experience of writing reports to senior management, committees, cabinet etc, the best advice I can give is to try and keep it short and to the point as possible, but don't sacrifice clarity for brevity. Long winded reports are difficult to read and a turn off for many and it therefore may not achieve what you are seeking to achieve. Be careful in your use of statistics, as different people will make of them what they will and may get hooked up on them and not the body of the report. I set out a summary at the start. This may sound daft but some people just do not have the time to read everything and they can get a feel of what the report is about from a good summary (sorry this is the reality of business at times) Then I use the following headings if relevant. Background Reasoning Implications arising (H&S, financial, legal, environmental, equalities etc) Conclusions Decision being sought (unless for information only)
