Posted By riskybizz Thanks Clare, I asked the site agent who advised me on this to identify the legislation/reg stating it, he said it was in the CITB G700 manuals, which i scoured to no avail.....

Posted By Alan Hoskins This is to do with arson attacks.
I have seen 8 metres recommended elsewhere, but am not aware of any specific distance requirement.

Posted By Mick154 This is down to good site set-up and planning, all i can say to this is place the skips where contractors can reach them easily and where the truck can pick them up with ease , make sure all access are clear. There is of course good information and advice if you put a skip on the road Sorry cannot help further

Posted By Ron Hunter 8 metres is a standard from Fire Risk Assessment requirements originating (I believe) from various insurers, same distance applies to bins permanently associated with the premises. If the skip is to be picked up the same day, then not really a problem, similar relaxation applies with covered lockable skips. Practicality surely dictates. If stripping a large roof via a scaffold-mounted chute, 8 metre separation becomes a bit non-sensical. Fire risk still applies though and end-of-shift uplift is still a priority.
