Preferably it will automatically flag when expiry / refresher dates are approaching. I am asking as there are lots to choose from on the web, but would prefer recommendations rather than chancing a purchase only to discover that it's pants. Your opinions / experience is appreciated.

For a simple competency record, I used an excel spreadsheet with conditonal formating to highlight refresher dates, I'd need to dig out a copy over the weekend if it would be of any use.
