We have some sister companies, two of which are in Holland and France.
The group from the UK installed a piece of machinery in the UK and used our sister company from either Holland or France to supply a dryer, pipework etc, which they also commissioned.
My question is does the sister company employees who installed/commissioned the dryer, pipework etc need to be Gas Safe registered as they are installing the equipment in the UK?
There would be someone else who would actually connect the pipework to the main gas supply from the UK who would be Gas Safe registered and supplied by the customer.

My understanding is that only the UK based personnel would need to be registered. As part of their work they would be testing the adequacy of the installation of the plant and pipework prior to connecting to the mains and commissioning.

Only a competence person make may work on gas fittings and installations, competent meaning they have an ACS qualification in the appropriate category.
There are different test criteria for new and existing installations, a gas engineer will should not take responsibility for someone else's work.
The solution is to have any workers from abroad work under the qualified gas engineer's close supervision, this will enable him to tackle problems with the installation as they arise, rather than him turning up and find a whole host of problems which require remedial work and additional costs or delay.

I am with Peter on this - the UK company will have to take ultimate responsibility for Gas Safety of the installation. In effect they will employ the other companies to undertake work under the auspices of their own certification.
