Hi All,
The college that I work for are being loaned a single decker bus for a student event on our car park. It's actually coming from the local borough council. The bus has computers on it that are used as an interactive feature.None of our staff will be driving it. It will be delivered by the council and then static throughout the day, before being picked up at the end of the day.
I know that I will need to obtain RA and insurance for it from them, and I'm also assuming that it will also need to be covered under the usual motor vehicle requirements (MOT,etc. As this is a first, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience of a similar situation and can offer any advice.

Not sure what else other then what you have mentioned needs to be in place. I suggest it is a case of job done.

Hi Sl,
the only thing I would add with experience of having Hgv's accessed by the young, is make sure the keys are removed and have the driver drain the air from the tanks incase an individual does release the parking brake. I see that these are students, but so was Rik mayall in the young ones.

Not sure if this is an urban myth or not but I'm sure I once heard of a situation like this where the police insisted that those in charge of the vehicle (even though it was static) had to have the appropriate license.

Is there any chance of the vehicle having to be moved in the event of an emergency situation - and therefore a qualified driver would need to be in the vicinity for the period of hire?
