Just curious to gauge other's points of view.
The maintenance company i work for, have Tiler's who have to tile at height around a bath.
1. They can't avoid the need to work at height
2. They cant use work equipment or other
measures to prevent falls.
They cannot use ladders or other work equipment to do the job, so currently they stand on the bath with one foot either side, which i know should not be happening.
I am wondering if anyone has an opinion as even step ups wouldn't be suitable in this case.
i know we can only do what is reasonably practicable and from speaking to the guys doing the work, it is normally short duration.

Surely a platform could be built from a few planks of wood to straddle the bath with fore and aft strengtheners underneath to prevent the platform slipping off the bath. About 3' x 3' should be OK.

Maybe also a bit of padding to prevent scratching to the bath edge.

Hi,
currently have contractors installing 914 bathrooms so we have looked at this. We have a cover board (12 ply board) for the bath, its in 2 parts (half the length of the bath)it has a number of blocks round the bottom that fit inside the rim of the bath to stop it slipping.
This is safe to stand on, it keeps tile cement out of the bath and stops scratches, it also is light and can be moved around the rooms easy.
If I caught a tiler not using one he would be off site at once.

If you have 914 bathrooms I would suggest installing wet-wall in advance of installing the bath. Risk reduction and all that!
