Posted By Neil R Hello all, I am trying to get clarification on lifting accessories, i think i know the answer but would like to check. We currently have a set of new slings that have been boxed and unused for 3 months. Does the requirement for 6 monthly inspection start from first use or when they are received. In other words if we used one today would an inspection be required in 6 months time? or in 3 months as we have had them for 3 months already albeit unused? hope that makes sense.

Posted By A Campbell Hi Neil, personally I would look at a regime of inspecting slings whilst in storage, especially if kept in a box may be affected by environmental conditions during storage.

Posted By Neil R We normally don't order slings until we need them, but these were ordered in error and we've kept them

Posted By stone rose Hi Neil, Just a quick one for you. Did you not receive a report of thorough examination with the slings or did you just receive a copy of the Declaration of Conformity? This could effect the date at which the next thorough examination is carried out. The problem with the DOC is that they give the date of the declaration but not the date of the next thorough exam which should be six months hence. A report (or birth certificate)issued with the slings should contain both dates. Hope this helps
