Posted By John Mac Carthy Fellow Colleagues The main dates for this campaign are between the 19th - 25th of October 2009. I am interested in finding out what everybody is doing to promote this campaign and what kind of resources you have thought suitable for this type of campaign to be effective. The business location for my campaign is a head office corporate function and a manufacturing environment. Site references: http://www.hse.gov.uk/campaigns/euroweek/ & http://osha.europa.eu/en/campaigns/hw2008/ Thank you John JohmMacCarthy25@yahoo.com

Posted By Brian Horrocks Not doing anything. Why are campaigns needed to maintain good h&s standards. Organisations with good commitment & culture should be ok. Too many 'nanny state' feel good programmes, in my view

Posted By Phil Rose John, it's a 2 year campaign and I did quite a bit on this last year with a major display, using a character called 'ERIC the risk manager' (bnot very original I know) to try and demystify the risk assessment/management process with an emphasis on the management of risks. I built the display up over the course of the week so that people were not overwhelmed and then followed each days display with an e mail as well to try and add some detail. I tried to keep it as 'light hearted' as I could. I have continued to use the 'ERIC' character throughout the year in regular e mail updates with comments from 'ERIC'. I will use some of the same material this year but also add to it some more material as well. My main target this year is our senior management forum as we have just been through a major restructure with some shifting of various responsibilities to different managers.

Posted By John Mac Carthy Thanks for that, I've had the focus since the beginning of the campaign also and have hit the easy wins with a noticeable difference. I wanted to do something different during the October week, something visual and light but still simple enough to gain attention and regenerate the spark of 'thinking' about risk management! All comments welcome, especially those of what you have done and intend to do for the October week. After all, its all about reducing risks and sharing good practice. Thank you

Posted By A Campbell Have to admit I like to keep my campaigns consistent, not annual or biannual and have enough European harmony to keep me occupied with more on the way soon no doubt!
