Posted By Canned heat We have an employee that has an arthritic condition affecting the joints of his big toes in both feet. His condition is aggravated when he is crouching down and his toes bend and he often has to do this to finish certain parts of his work. He has had an occupational health referral which has confirmed his condition and advised we should review our risk assessments to see if safety footwear is absolutely necessary for his job role. After reviewing the risk assessment it has been decided that it is necessary for safety footwear to be worn. With this in-mind, does anybody know where i could find any type of specialist footwear or manufactures who may do suitable footwear for our employee. Thanks

Posted By Robin M Not an easy one. I would first look at a way to change the method of work to remove the risk of foot injury. If this is not possible then safety trainers are available and are often quite comfortable. Try searching online for "safety trainers". Hope this helps.

Posted By keith1983 This may cross over into a Manual handling issue. Can the bending down not be eliminated?
