Clarity/help needed please - PM28 makes reference to "occational use" of "non-integrated" working platforms - my understanding is that we dont need in-depth operator training when lifting operatives for one-off type, occational use; could anyone confirm for me (the above Guidance Note isnt (to me)clear.
THANKS in advance.

Hi Jon
Point 34 of the PM28 states training required, ACOP L:117 "rider operated lift trucks, operator training" point 5 requires training even for very occasional use, and point 32 Specific job training includes attachments.
To answer your question both the truck operator and the man in the basket need to be fully trained even for occasional use.

Thanks Andy, we will ensure all operatives (i.e. driver and "person" up in basket)are able to comply with guidance contained within PM28.
# Drivers are fully trained in the use of telehandlers.
# Operative in basket - "guidance" given (ref PM28). Not 100% sure what constitutes "training," - as mentioned above, guided by the above Guidance Note - not actually able to produce a traning certificate (presume a course is available - work needs to be done within days!).
