Posted By Wayne Wondering if anyone help me - do bench grinders, hand held grinders and grinding machines have to comply with any rundown time under PUWER? Pretty sure hand held grinders don't, but not so sure of the other two Regards Wayne

Posted By Paul Skyrme Wayne, The run down time requirements under PUWER come from hand fed wood working machinery or wood working machinery where access to the cutters (not grinding wheels) can reasonably be gained during run down. Try HSE WIS38, and ACOP L114 & L22. It is my belief and the advice that I give my customers that they do not. If new (CE marked) they should comply with the EHSR of the product directives. There are other requirements under PUWER, e-stops etc. with which they must comply. I am in the middle of something right now and don't have the paperwork to hand to quote the actual sections for you. Paul
