I am considering registering as a stand-alone training provider focusing on the construction industry and am gathering data/information to help me decide on the best route to take in terms of IOSH vs CITB. Can anyone provide me with any feedback of their experiences with training providers, courses, regard for the schemes within the marketplace, etc. Many thanks.

Hello Judith I cannot comment on IOSH courses due to the fact that I have not been on any, however I have attended the 5 day course for the Construction Site Managers Safety Certificate - CITB. Very informative and learnt a great deal. This might be something which you could investigate further.

Asd a tutor for both I would say it is a matter of horses for courses. As a matter of interest though the CITB is more stringent in its trainer standards than IOSH. It requires A) a demonstrated level of competence in construction safety B) Holding of PTLLS and C) Have done the course as a student on the course being tutored. I think IOSH may have something to learn here

Hi, I am a trainer for Constructionskills too. In the SMSTS programme we use plant and equipment together with practical exercises in our laboratory (COSHH, Asbestos, Electricity, LEV, Waste) and I find (judging from our feedback) that they like this as it takes them out of the classroom environment).
