Will they need the 6 month inspection required under LOLER as we would be lifting people in them?

I know that there are allowances for equipment that is used infrequently. They are used during drills and training every month or two.

No, they won't. LOLER is really only invoked where a machanical failure could lead to injury. An evac cahir is essentially a wheelchair without wheels, and LOLER won't apply,

You should however, consider it under PUWER and have a maintenance programme for it.

Maintained under PUWER not covered by LOLER as it is not lifting equipment they are designed to tranport and not lift hence PUWER not LOLER. When it was purchased did it come with LOLER/thourough inspection cerification ??

Meant to say the the equipment in itself does not actually lift or lower,
