Posted By micksharp I have a client in the USA who requires an Environmental Health & Safety Audit. The company has 50 siates worldwide and is interested in developing a EHS assessment tool which can be benchmarked. Has anyone got experiance in Auditing & Benchmarking within the Pharmaceutical sector? Please let me know as soon as possible. Many thanks Mick

Posted By Jay Joshi The Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) should be applicable to the Pharmaceutical Sector. It is now available as a third party certificated management system (covers both health and Safety and Environmental Aspects). The plus point is that it also has a scoring system, therefore lending it to a degree of benchmarking. A few of the leading certification bodies offer RCMS certification

Hi Mick, I trying to read between the lines a bit, but when you indicate "audit" it appears to me to be more compliance with the regulations based. When indicate "benchmarking" it appears to me to be more assessing best management practices relative to peer companies. While the Responsible Care system is an excellent system for a manufacturing setting, it's a bit of a struggle for facilities which may be more research focused. If you're looking for more of a management systems approach, the Global Environmental Management Initiative (http://www.gemi.org) has a great document and it's free to download from their site. Best regards, Dean
