As our profiles are viewable and our postings indicate whether we are members of IOSH, is it possible that the trolls and other nasty folk are staying hidden or choosing their words more carefully? Ignorant members can be exposed to ridicule from their peers and possible discipline from IOSH whilst ignorant outsiders can be seen as such and possibly ignored. Request to the Moderators: Do you keep statistics on your interventions? If so it would be interesting to me if in, say, 3 months you could publish whether there is any significant change in your level of active work. To previous responders to this thread: feeble efforts, could do better, although perversely, I suppose that rather reinforces the thread!

Dear forum users, Some interesting stats for you: Before the new site launched, our website attracted about 57,000 users each month, and about 60% of that traffic came to the forums. We have 35,000 members - so there were possibly about 22,000 people using the site, who are obviously interested in health and safety, and not members. This is great news - it helps health and safety professionals reach others who share a common interest, and it might help IOSH attract new members and supporters. When we were preparing to launch the site, we needed to merge our member database with the list of registered forum users - of the 22,000 forum users, we could only verify 5,000 as members. That doesn't mean the rest weren't members, but we couldn't get the data fields to match exactly. But it does show that there were, and hopefully still will be, a large number of interested users out there who aren't IOSH members. So if you need to re-register, don't worry, it's a simple process, and you can start to use the forums straight away. So get stuck in, and enjoy the debate. I am still interested in the concept of a silent Steve Granger!! :-) Yes this logging out every time you move to another window is a major clunky issue and I think there are many niggles yet to be resolved. I was pounced upon because I questioned the claims about thorough testing of the new site before the changeover. The answer is the standard "all IT systems have teething problems". So much for the abiity to assess risk. Bob
