I have a range of test papers I use for an internal low level H&S course. I want to change one of the questions because it's about the validity period of 1st aid certs. I know that they've changed and I will tell them this during the course but I don't want to penalise them for entrenched learning so for the next year or so I'm going to leave it out of the paper.
My question is what to replace it with?
If you can offer any help, PM me and I will email you the current paper. This will help to avoid well meant offers of questions that are already in there.
Thanks in advance
John

But the certification period hasn't changed - still three years.
Only the length of the training course has altered.
Or have I missed something?

Agreed but the cert will lapse if they don't do the top training annually. I just want to avoid confusion until it becomes more commonly known and understood. Its not really critical that they know the finer details of this as, as I said, this is low level training.

I was under the impression that the refresher training wasnt manditory, just advised.
Have I missed something?

The requirement for annual refresher training for first aiders is only a recommendation from the HSE, it is not an absolute requirement and not undertaking the annual refresher will not make a FAW certificate invalid.

Which just proves that the question isn't as easy to answer as it used to be because there is still some misunderstanding of the requirements. As to HSE recomendations, I certainly want to avoid trying to explain the finer subtleties of termanology used in this industry in a low level course.
(Please, please, please, give us a 'spall chucker')

Perhaps the question you should use is:
"Why are health and safety regulations not easy to understand?"

Ok, I stand corrected. The questions stays and the answer is still three years. I shall leave out the bit about recommended annual refresher training as it it will just cloud their understanding.
