Hi All,

I am going to be made redundant at the end of the year and am intending to become self employed. I aim to fill my time approx 50/50 providing consultancy services and training. I am currently working as a H&S Manager for a multi site UK company. I have extensive (+30yrs) experience in engineering as well as many other industrys ranging from stonemasonry to fruit farms to power stations. In previous roles I have delivered IOSH approved courses, usually at customers premises, and have written customer specific courses as and when required and although I currently write and deliver training for my current employer, its a side to my role that I miss! I am an enthusiastic trainer and am looking for any opportunity to build up the training side of my new business, hopefully with IOSH courses,

I'm looking for up to 10 days of "associate" training, part/time or similar per month. I hold the NEBOSH Diploma, as well as numerous IOSH certified courses, I am Grad IOSH working towards chartered status and I am a certified CIEH trainer, although not currently registered but that can be sorted easily. I plan to gain PTLL's early in the New Year to continue and expand my training skills.

Additionally, if anyone wants a p\t Health and Safety Consultant for a few days a month, then I am hoping to expand this side of my business also.

I am based in Derbyshire but have no issues with travelling if required.

If anyone can help, then drop me an email either via IOSH if I'm logged in at the time or on jon.holmes@tiscali.co.uk.

I can supply a copy of my cv on request.

Many Thanks

Jon.

The very best of luck to you Jon, have been trying now to get going for 12 months but just not enough out there to keep hearth and home together.
I have website, good and prominent listings on Google, Freeindex, Scoot, Thomson Local etc, I even have contacts, skills and experience but it is tough for new starters at the moment.
The advice I have been getting is that year 2 gets easier but I am not holding my breath, and am looking at doing contract work alongside freelancing to try and make ends meet.
I would say look at working an initial 100 days per year and find something else to do in the meantime.
Once again good luck!
