I am currently working for a large facilities management company in a health and safety coordinator role. The position is not what i expected or what was told to me in the interview and i feel a little like i have gone backwards in my career, considering the role i had previously had high amounts of responsibility and i was managing the whole of health and safety for 1500 members of staff.
I therefore am looking to leave where i am and move into a position where i have more responsibility and am able to use my skills and qualifications to the full.
I have the NEBOSH gen cert, i am currently waiting for my technical grade membership to come through from IOSH and i am part of the CPD programme.
I also have a ergonomics for beginners qualifications.
My previous role allowed me to gain a high amount of experience in lots of different areas in a short period of time
If anyone has any advice it would be muchly appreciated.

Hannah You don't state why you left a good role ?
The current climate for H&S roles is not too good so would recommend you stay where you are and gain even more experience as I believe experience is the key to take you forward.
However I would recommend to gain experience and become an expert in this field and point all you experiences within your cv.
Not sure what field you want to go in so difficult to give you advice, however I am in construction and as such have a NEBOSH General & Construction but would like to be a fire risk assessor eventually but I am riding out the current climate before I commit
If you can not wait any longer get yourelf off to the IOSH meetings and start to intrigate within the sector and you may get a job that way ?
What ever you decide good luck
Alan :-)

Hi Alan
Thanks very much for this advice i am currently working within the facilities environment for corporate companies. The problem i have is the account i am on is not very good however the account is a great account (or could be) there just is not enough work for me here, i like being busy and i have not been busy for a while.
I left the last job i was in as i had done 3 years with the company and gone as far as i could with them, i was ready to move forward and they were unable to provide this.
Thanks again for your response
H
