I am looking at writing a generic risk assessment for Pop Up Low Level Access Platforms.
They are manually moved with an electric hydraulic extension system allowing heights of 3.6m

I'm aware of the manual handling, emtrapment, snipping at WAH hazards that they pose and the risks inherrant with charging the batteries.

Does the operator need to be IPAF or similar trained as it is basically a restricted scissor lift?

Thanks in advance

Steve

Hi Steve,
I think that would depend on what and who's site you are working on.

If it's your own management then I would expect your management team to decide on what is the minimal training you expect for people to operate the popup. You are correct in that it behaves similar to a scissors lift, but is used mainly indoors, has no self propulsion and height restricted, also only 1 person operated etc.

Regards
Tony
