Hello, I hope someone can help me out or point me in the right direction. I am currently looking for my first Health & Safety post, and although my previous jobs have all involved H&S at some levels, this has not helped. I took the Nebosh General Certificate in H&S last year and passed the Practical exam and will be taking the written exams in Feb - in hindsight I should have taken the Nebosh then. Can anyone recommend any company or organisation that either offers work experience or offers junior positions in H&S?
I have written to various local councils, larger chain stores and have approached various warehouse base companies near to where I live offering work expereince but to no avail so far. Any guidance or help is extremely welcomed.

DJW - it would help if you said where you are based. E.g. whilst we have no availability at the moment, we have taken people on placements in the past, but we are based near Cardiff - and from your posting it is not possible to tell if that would have been convenient or not!

I am currently based in Verwood in Dorset although this is a temporary address and I would relocate. Cardiff is roughly 90 to 120 minutes away.

This isn't exactly a reply to DJW, but I am in a similar situation.
I sat my Nebosh general cert exams in september last year and I passed them with credit. I am also looking for an entry level job, but have had no luck so far. I currently work as a health and safety administrator for a Leicestershire based furniture company. We install our products into new build homes accross the uk.
I act as the focal point for all health & safety enquiries for the building contractors/companies that we work with. My main duties include compiling and collating H&S info and completing questionnaires in regards to CDM regs and our policy, procedures and operations on-site. I have been involved in Risk Assessments and Noise Risk Assessments, site visits and contractor meetings.
I recently redrafted our divisions health and safety information pack to include our standard on-site procedures and new method statements, along with this I created new documents for accident/incident investigation, sub-contract labour only induction (these documents are now used throughout the entire company).
Anway, as DJW has asked, can anyone offer advice or guidance. Short of emailing my c.v to all local consultants I don't really know which way to turn..........
