Having been unemployed for 12 mnths (Its a jungle out there). I have worked the past 6 mnths part-time unpaid so as to keep my CPD up to date. I have been given a Government voucher for£1000. to give to any employer who is able to give me a "6 month minimum" contract of employment. And a further voucher for up to £1500.Training costs..(I can think of plenty of courses I'd like to do). Construction is my desired field, I am prepared to travel within 40 miles of Merseyside. CV available on request Regards Paul

Hi Paul
How's it going? Have you had any luck? Perhaps identify the course you could see being of use and approach some organisations direct or through your local IOSH branch meeting to see if any one can throw you a life line.
I am too far away to help but can advise a little if you want to look at it from an employers point of view.
Regards
Linda

Hi there Paul, hope you have had some luck?
I too am currently out of work, and have been for almost 13 months. You are spot on about it being a jungle out there at present. You mentioned that you have the voucher and incentive for training, could i please ask how you accessed it?
I have started to think that living in Kent, you don't get any help!
My career until recently has been in Interiors speciallising in Design, Shopfitting and Refurbishment. Since i graduated (1995) in Interior Architecture/Spatial Design i have seen H&S change at a rapid rate and have along the way grasped it, yet until recently did not think about it as a change in career. It makes sense as i shall be able to concentrate my skills without throwing it all away.
I am looking to do my Nebosh Construction course with a view to become a CDMC, have potentially a place but no funding!
Be lucky.
Glen
