I've never played egg chasing but I know when I played football we had to have insurance (covered by being a member of the FA). Not sure if this is still the case or applies to rugby?

Assuming this is a Union game, then RFU compulsory insurance is a minimum requirement before the game can be played. The referee, if a member of a recognised society will be covered by RFU insurance. I suggest you contact the RFU or your local constituent body for advice. www.RFU.com

"The players are fit" Interesting to see how you would check that. [bearing in mind that many International rugby players come out as 'clinically obese' on the BMI tables]

How are you going to write a R/A for rugdy or any other sport unless you are willing to personally sue the person who hurts anyone playing outside the rules i.e someone gets tackled around the neck suffers whiplash type injuries the insurance won't pay. maybe you should try and find a company who will insure you for the one game. The R/A will have to include being tackled and then the type of injuries. We have to do assessments for sports and we just put i.e. football injuries consistant with being tackled, bruising, cuts, lacerations, possible broken limbs. Are all players experienced, have they had training, the correct information provided. Don't forget an SSOW, Catch ball run like hell, throw ball to someone else, laugh as opposing players jump on him instead of you, repeat the process until the end of the game. Get chenged talk about how good you were, get drunk go home. We have company policy that covers the injured party to be paid in full if injured during an organised event. Don't forget if you are having a drink after the game you also need to R/A that as well ensuring that all get home safely.
