Does anybody have any experiance in the collation of a Building user Manual as per the BREEAM requirements? Apparently the H&S file along with the O&M's is not adequate due to it being to technical? Any input happily recieved. Nick

Nick It is not so much that it is overly technical for BREEAM purposes, it is simply not suitable for same. This is a complex area and somewhat outside of the remit for health and safety. So that your thread is not removed by a moderator I am quite happy to do this via PM's so as not to bring on their wrath;-) I am more than familiar with the process after consulting a while back on several new projects around the UK that were essentially JV'd (of a sort, or perhaps PQQ wise) with local authorities. This is quite involved to go into here on the forum. besides which, as I say, it simply isn't H&S related and will be removed. All the best CFT

demending on what area a person comes from and how broad a scope that you want to cover I would argue that H&S does cross over with and interface BREEAM abet its a specialist subject and as CFT states its a complex area and needs specialist expertise If you go back >25 years you find that best practice very high cost and very high risk construction considered almost all the factors in their safety cases so the areas are not new but do, as I said before, require specialists and have additional elements In my personal opinion a good H&S person in construction should have a knowledge of the requirements of BREEAM and similar

Thanks Bob, this is my first project where BREEAM has been used so maybe after a few I will have the knowledge of the requirements and for futrure reference 25 years ago I was still at primary school so I don't really have much experiance to draw on from back then.
