I’ve just seen a couple of interesting job offers, one that is available from a simple job search on the internet and the other from the local job centre:-
(I’m not going to say which company’s we are talking about)
Job 1 - Health & Safety Manager (Contract Role) with a minimum 3 years construction experience, especially civils experience. Must be a member of IOSH and have at least a NEBOSH Diploma.
£40 per day!
Job 2 (from the local job centre) - Health & Safety Advisor required. Must have an environmental qualification and NEBOSE? and be MIOSH RSP? Must have own transport and be willing to commute to various locations. 37 hour week with a 07:30am start time. Salary 12-15k dependent on experience?
Any comments are welcome.

i would suggest that job 1 is £40 per HOUR
and job 2 must be a 3.7 hour week !!!

No I did check and they are not typo's - that was my first though. I'm sure their are others who can beat me on this one?

I'm at the very start of my career in H & S. Have IOSH Managing Safely so far, with Nebosh General Cert to start within the next few months.
I could get better money than those two being offered stacking shelves possibly.
Thankfully i get more than that without a Nebosh qualification...
Only people who would do either would have to be completely and utterly skint to even contemplate going for them.
I also have to travel to various locations, however unlike the second job i have use of a pool vehicle / train (for a couple of depots) as needed.

Hey Ho!
If you have not got a job but have the qualification, recieve jobseekers allowance and are sent for interview by jobcentre and offered position do you say NO chance on that rate of pay and risk losing benefit or, say it will do until something better comes my way.
Thousands of people across the country are told " I wouldn't get out of bed for that money" by people earning better incomes. However £200.00 per week is better than £70.00 social.
Employers are in business to get the biggest return possible for minimal outlay. In a few weeks time someone will be gainfully employed in those roles adding more experience to the CV and CPC.
The salary may be lousy but it is work>

I know jobs are hard to come by but these are ridiculous! The old maxim springs to mind - you get what you pay for.

I agree the salary offered for both is low.
However, it is better than being not in employment at this moment though.
As safetogo stated above, you can display the role in your CV as further experience before things get better and a better paid role turns up. At least you can show you are still involved in h & s and that there are no gaps in your CV.

The point I was really annoyed about was that the £40 per day job would not even comply with the minimum wage by my reckoning!
Yes, it would be £200 per week bout that’s before deductions and you would then have to pay all your local taxes, travelling etc. This is for someone who must be experienced and have a minimum NEBOSH Dip plus IOSH Membership - are they kidding?
Has anyone else seen anything similar recently?
