Can anyone tell me are stickers with date of inspection and signature a mandatory requirement on Fire Extinguishers or not?

Additionally when the colour coded plastic ties are fitted is this a national standard with regard to the colour or do each maintenance company use their own colour coding for each year? ie Everyone uses green for 2009 then Yellow for 2010 etc.

Thanks in advance

Clive

Hi Clive,

The use of a sticker with inspection date etc on them are not specified in legislation - however, what other method can you use to tell me that they have been inspected within the past year?

As to the ties, each company will likely use their own colour as a guide for maintenance & inspection. I.e. if there's a different colour from 2010's colour it tells them the extinguisher may have been used.

Hope that helps.
